School of Basic Medicine and Life Sciences, Xuzhou Medical University, was founded in 1962. Over more than six decades of development, it has evolved into the university’s longest-established secondary school featuring prominent disciplinary strengths, a distinguished faculty team and comprehensive educational infrastructure.
The school currently employs over 270 faculty and staff members, who undertake teaching tasks covering basic medical and biological courses for students at all educational levels, including undergraduates, international students, postgraduates and continuing education learners across 28 majors of medicine, science, engineering and management disciplines of the university. Four undergraduate majors are offered by the school, namely Biomedical Science, Biological Science, Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, with nearly 700 enrolled undergraduates and more than 800 undergraduate alumni in total.
Postgraduate training was initiated by the school in 1985. It now owns 1 first-level discipline doctoral degree authorization discipline, 6 second-level discipline doctoral degree authorization disciplines, 2 first-level discipline master’s degree authorization disciplines and 17 second-level discipline master’s degree authorization disciplines. At present, more than 300 postgraduates are studying here, and nearly 1,500 postgraduates have graduated cumulatively.
