Biography
Dr. Chu Zhang is a Lecturer in the Department of Cell Biology and Neurobiology, School of Life Sciences, Xuzhou Medical University. Dr. Zhang received a PhD in Cell Biology from Xuzhou Medical University in 2023 after completing medical training at Shandong University. The research integrates clinical medicine, targeted metabolomics, molecular and cellular biology, animal models, and bioinformatics to investigate how metabolic alterations contribute to neurological and systemic diseases.

Dr. Zhang’s research focuses on the pathogenesis and intervention of metabolic diseases, with particular emphasis on the gut microbiota-bile acid-brain axis, bile acid biomarkers of cognitive impairment and neurodegeneration, and metabolic regulation of oligodendrocyte differentiation and myelination. Dr. Zhang has led or completed research projects supported by the Jiangsu maternal and child health research program, the Jiangsu postgraduate research and practice innovation program, the Xuzhou key research and development program, and the Excellent Talent Research Start-up Fund of Xuzhou Medical University. Research findings have been published in journals including Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis, npj Parkinson’s Disease, and Stem Cell Research & Therapy.
