Biography

Dr. Jun Zhang is a Professor at the Department of Medical Biotechnology, Xuzhou Medical University. He received his Ph.D. in Developmental Biology from Beijing Normal University in 2015 and completed joint doctoral training in the Department of Cellular and Molecular Physiology at the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine. He subsequently joined UT Health San Antonio as a postdoctoral fellow and was promoted to Assistant Professor in 2023.

His research focuses on the molecular mechanisms underlying mitochondrial dysfunction in aging and age-related diseases, with particular emphasis on mitochondrial phospholipids remodeling, cardiolipin metabolism, mitophagy, inflammation, and cellular senescence. He has published more than 20 SCI-indexed papers in leading journals, with more than 1100 citations and H-index of 20. He currently serves as a Review Editor for Frontiers journals and as an ad hoc reviewer for numerous international journals in aging, metabolism, and mitochondrial biology.
