On the afternoon of October 5, the 4th session of the 2022 Academic Salon Series of the School of Life Sciences was successfully held in Conference Room 822 of the Teaching Main Building. Dr. Zhang He delivered a thematic report for graduate supervisors and frontline teachers of the school. The report was entitled “Effects of Irregular Eating Patterns on Biological Rhythms and the Regulatory Mechanism of Ghrelin”. Taking growing pigs as research objects, Dr. Zhang simulated irregular eating patterns through feeding management from the perspectives of intestinal microorganisms and biological rhythms. With transcriptome sequencing and high-throughput sequencing technologies, the research explored the effects of irregular diets on physiological biological rhythms. Furthermore, both in vivo receptor antagonism experiments and in vitro cell assays were conducted to investigate and verify the molecular mechanism by which ghrelin regulates bodily biological rhythms.
Following the insightful report, Dr. Zhang He had in-depth academic discussions with participating teachers on the key scientific issues involved in his research.
