The preliminary round of the 10th Physiology Quiz In China has been successfully held. Now, the relevant matters for the next stage are notified as follows.
I.The Final of the Competition
1.Quiz Form and Content
The final is divided into two tracks: undergraduate and higher vocational colleges. The competition content covers human physiology and related medical knowledge. All the Quiz questions are in English and are jointly formulated by the member units of the Organizing Committee of the Physiology Quiz In China. For the specific quiz rules, please refer to Annex 1.
2.Participants and Participation Methods
Colleges and universities where students who won the third prize or above in the preliminary round are from; Invited foreign colleges and universities.
The final will be carried out in the form of teams. Each college and university is limited to reporting 4 teams, with 3-5 team members and 1-2 instructors in each team. Team members cannot be repeated among different teams, and an instructor can guide multiple teams.
II.Symposium on Basic Medical Education
A Symposium on Basic Medical Education will be held during the Quiz. Renowned experts in the field of basic medical education at home and abroad will be invited to give special lectures on the topic of "Challenges and Countermeasures Faced by Basic Medical Education". Basic medical education administrators and front-line teachers from colleges and universities at home and abroad are welcome to participate.
III.Activity Arrangement
Time: May 16-19, 2025
Venue : Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province
Schedule:
May 16, 2025: Registration.
May 17, 2025: Opening ceremony; The first and second rounds of the undergraduate track and the first and second rounds of the higher vocational colleges track; Organizing Committee meeting; Symposium on Basic Medical Education.
May 18, 2025: The third, fourth and fifth rounds of the undergraduate track and the third round of the higher vocational colleges track; Award ceremony and closing ceremony.
May 19, 2025: Visit Xuzhou Medical University and departure from the event.
IV.Award Settings
Awards are set separately for the two tracks of the undergraduate group and the higher vocational colleges group.
1.Final Awards: Grand prizes, first prizes, second prizes and third prizes are set for the teams respectively. In addition, trophies and prizes will be awarded to the top three teams.
2.Excellent Organization Award: This award will be presented based on the participation and award-winning situations of each school in both the preliminary round and the final round.
3.Excellent Instructor Award: Instructors will be presented with corresponding awards according to the award levels of the teams they guide in the final.

After successful registration, please fill in the Final Registration Confirmation Form (Annex 2) and send it to the email address xzphysiology@163.com. Please note "Registration Confirmation Form - School - Team Leader's Name" in the subject of the email.
VI.Participation Fees
A registration fee will be charged for the final. The fee is 1,200 yuan per person for both participating students and teachers.

Annex 1. Rules for the Final Competition
I.Undergraduate Track
1.Rounds and Advancement Rules
The final consists of 5 rounds in total.
First round: All teams answer questions together. The top 48 teams in total score will advance to the second round; in case of the same total score, the team with the shorter total time used will advance; if the total time used is still the same, an additional question will be given, and the team whose member answers it in a shorter time will advance.
Second round (48 into 24): There are 48 representative teams in total. Each representative team sends 3-5 members to the stage. The competition is divided into 6 matches, with 8 representative teams in each match. The top 4 teams in each match will advance to the third round.
Third round (24 into 12): There are 24 representative teams in total. Each representative team sends 3-5 members to the stage. The competition is divided into 3 matches, with 8 representative teams in each match. The top 4 teams in each match will advance to the fourth round.
Fourth round (12 into 6): There are 12 representative teams in total. Each representative team sends 3 members to the stage. The competition is divided into 2 matches, with 6 representative teams in each match. The top 3 teams in each match will advance to the fifth round.
Fifth round (Final round): There are 6 representative teams in total. Each representative team sends 3 members to the stage. There is 1 match to decide the champion, runner-up and second runner-up.
Except for the first round, at the end of each round of the competition, if there is the same score situation, an additional question will be given, and each team selects 1 member to answer it in a rush. The team whose member answers it correctly will advance, and if the answer is wrong, the other team will advance.
Except for the first round, the competition matches and the order of appearance of each representative team will be determined by online lottery.
It is not allowed to exchange members between different representative teams of the same school.
2.Answering Rules
First round: The questions are single-choice questions and multiple-choice questions. The question stems can be in the form of text, pictures, animations, voice, videos, etc. Each question has 5 options. The questions are displayed on the large screen in sequence. All teams answer the questions together. Team members can discuss among themselves and select any player to answer the questions. The time limit for answering each question is 1 minute.
Second round and third round: The host asks questions orally, and each question is read twice. The players write their answers by hand. In each round of each match, each representative team sends one player to independently answer 2 questions together. The answers should be written down and shown within 20 seconds. 1 point will be awarded for a correct answer, and no points will be deducted for a wrong answer. Each match consists of 5 rounds, and each representative team answers 10 questions in total. If the number of members in a representative team is less than 5, the players who have already answered questions can be selected to answer again, but each player can only answer questions in at most 2 rounds.
Fourth round and fifth round: The host asks questions orally, and each question is read twice. The players answer orally. In each round of each match, each representative team sends one player to independently answer one question. There is a 20-second preparation time after the question is asked. 3 points will be awarded for a correct answer, and no points will be deducted for a wrong answer. If the answer is wrong or the player cannot answer, the players of other teams can answer in a rush. When the host says “The answer is wrong” or “Please prepare to press the buzzer”, and after the answering device gives the instruction of “3, 2, 1, start”, the players can start to answer in a rush. Pressing the answering device in advance will not lead to point deduction, but the team will lose the opportunity to answer this question in a rush, and at this time the host will give the instruction again for answering in a rush. 2 points will be awarded for a correct rush answer, and 1 point will be deducted for a wrong rush answer. After a wrong rush answer, the team will lose the opportunity to answer this question in a rush again, and at this time the host will give the instruction again for answering in a rush. Each match consists of 3 rounds, and each representative team answers 3 questions as the main answerer in total. In the fourth round, in each round of the competition, the answering order is determined by lottery, and the players can freely select 1 question from the question numbers displayed on the large screen to answer.
Except for the first round, the answering players are not allowed to communicate with other members of their own team during the answering process; otherwise, the answer will not be scored and 3 points will be deducted; if the violation occurs twice accumulatively, the team will be disqualified from the competition.
II.Higher Vocational Colleges Track
The host asks questions orally, and each question is read once and displayed on the large screen. After the question is asked, there is a 20-second preparation time. Team members can discuss among themselves and select any player to answer the questions.
First round: The question type is single-choice questions. Each question has 5 options, and the answers are written by hand. Each representative team in each match answers the questions together. Write down the answers and show them. 1 point will be awarded for a correct answer, and no points will be deducted for a wrong answer.
Second round: The question type is short-answer questions, and the answers are written by hand. Each representative team in each match answers the questions together. Write down the answers and show them. 1 point will be awarded for a correct answer, and no points will be deducted for a wrong answer.
Third round: The question type is short-answer questions, and the answers are given orally. There are 5 rounds in total. In each round, the answering order is determined by lottery, and the players can freely select 1 question from the question numbers displayed on the large screen to answer. Each representative team answers 5 questions as the main answerer in total. 3 points will be awarded for a correct answer, and no points will be deducted for a wrong answer. If the answer is wrong or the player cannot answer, the players of other teams can answer in a rush. When the host says “The answer is wrong” or “Please prepare to press the buzzer”, and after the answering device gives the instruction of “3, 2, 1, start”, the players can start to answer in a rush. The specific number of advancement places for each round of the higher vocational colleges track, the competition matches of each representative team, the order of appearance, etc. will be notified separately after the registration deadline.
III.Adjudication of Disputes
A judging panel is set up for this competition. In case of any disputes, the final adjudication will be given by the judging panel. If there are still doubts, they can be raised and communicated with the judging panel after the competition, and the communication result will not affect the competition results.
