From July 16 to 19, the 21st International Physiology Quiz was grandly held at Chulalongkorn University in Thailand. More than 400 elites from 72 top universities across 17 countries and regions worldwide gathered in Bangkok to compete at a high level. Led by Dean Tang Renxian of the School of Basic Medical Sciences, our school's team stood out amid fierce international Quiz with its outstanding professional competence and cross-cultural communication skills, securing a high ranking and demonstrating the effectiveness of our school's medical education.
This year's quiz broke away from the traditional theoretical assessment model, with significant innovations in both question-setting style and quiz format. The questions were closely linked to clinical practice, combining academic depth with innovation to comprehensively assess participants' ability to apply knowledge. Our students remained calm during the quiz, answered questions accurately, and showcased solid professional foundations and excellent teamwork skills. The quiz's question-setting philosophy of "drawing from clinical practice and feeding into teaching" provided important insights for the reform of basic medical education at our school. In the future, we will further strengthen the integration of courses with clinical cases and promote the transformation of the teaching model towards "learning driven by application".
Cultural exchange was another highlight of the quiz. During the "Cultural Night" event carefully organized by the quiz organizers, teachers and students from our school performed the Tai Chi Kung Fu Fan. As the melodious traditional music played, the team members moved with smooth and graceful motions, integrating the hardness and softness of Tai Chi with the agility and elegance of Kung Fu Fan. The opening and closing of the fans fully demonstrated the charm of Chinese martial arts, prompting contestants from various countries to raise their mobile phones to record this "Chinese moment". After the performance, teams from many countries took the initiative to communicate with us, and the small Kung Fu Fan became a "golden key" for cross-cultural dialogue.
As a well-known institution of higher learning in Southeast Asia, Chulalongkorn University enjoys a high reputation in the field of medical education. Before the quiz, teachers and students from our school paid an in-depth visit to the university's medical school and held discussions with experts from the Department of Physiology on cutting-edge topics such as the reform of basic medical courses, the innovation of experimental teaching models, and the integration of scientific research and teaching. This exchange model of "promoting learning through quiz and promoting development through visits" has injected new ideas into the reform of medical education at our school.
"This trip to Bangkok has achieved a double harvest in academic competitiveness and cultural soft power," said the leading teacher. Our school's team not only demonstrated the achievements of our teaching on the international stage but also effectively enhanced the reputation and influence of our school in the field of medical education in the Asia-Pacific region through in-depth exchanges and cultural interactions. The in-depth exchanges with international counterparts not only verified the effectiveness of our school's "new medical sciences" talent cultivation but also built a new bridge for medical education cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region.
