From November 22 to 23, the 4th Jiangsu University Students Basic Medical Experiment Skills Competition was held at Soochow University. Sponsored by the Jiangsu Society of Pathophysiology and organized by Soochow Medical College of Soochow University, the competition attracted 23 teams from 13 universities including Nanjing Medical University, Nanjing University, Soochow University and Xuzhou Medical University. Two representative teams from our university participated in the competition and won one group first prize and one group second prize respectively.
The competition consisted of two parts: online theoretical assessment and offline experimental operation, comprehensively evaluating students' basic medical knowledge and basic experimental operation skills. Under the careful guidance of two teachers, Xu Jing and Liu Xiaofan, from the National Demonstration Center for Experimental Basic Medical Science Education of our university, 8 students from the First Clinical Medical College, School of Anesthesiology, School of Medical Imaging and School of Stomatology responded calmly and collaborated closely. They honed their skills and improved their professional qualities in real competition scenarios, truly embodying the principle of "applying knowledge in practice and integrating competition with teaching".
These awards are a vivid reflection of our university’s efforts to deepen the reform of basic medical education and strengthen the effectiveness of practical teaching. They also demonstrate the enterprising spirit, pursuit of excellence, and solid professional foundation of our students. In the future, our university will continue to adhere to the “student-centered” approach, uphold the educational philosophy of "strengthening basics, emphasizing practice, cultivating abilities and encouraging innovation", strive to cultivate more outstanding medical talents with innovative spirit and practical capabilities, and steadily improve the quality and effectiveness of basic medical education.
