From September 27 to 29, the "2025 Academic Conference on Immunity and Metabolism and the Academic Meeting of the Immunity and Metabolism Committee of the Jiangsu Society of Immunology," jointly organized by the Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Immunity and Metabolism, the Jiangsu International Joint Laboratory of Immunity and Metabolism, the Immunity and Metabolism Committee of the Jiangsu Society of Immunology, and the Jiangsu Society of Immunology, was grandly held in Xuzhou, Jiangsu. The conference was hosted by the School of Basic Medical Sciences of Xuzhou Medical University and attended by over 200 experts and scholars from China and Australia.
At the opening ceremony, Li Haiyang, Member of the Standing Committee of the University Party Committee and Vice President of Xuzhou Medical University, delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the university. Professor Zhang Xueguang, Honorary President of the Jiangsu Society of Immunology, and Professor Wang Lixin, President of the society, delivered opening remarks, extending a warm welcome to the attendees and emphasizing the significant implications and promising prospects of immunity and metabolism research in the fields of life sciences and medicine. The opening ceremony was chaired by Professor Wang Wenshi, Director of the Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Immunity and Metabolism.
The conference invited leading scholars, including Professor Huang Xufeng from the University of Wollongong, Australia; Professor Hua Zichun from Nanjing University; Professor Zhang Xiaoming from the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences; Professor Jiang Zhengfan from Peking University; Professors Zhang Yonghui and Liu Wanli from Tsinghua University; Professor Zhu Haizhen from Hainan Medical University; Professor Wang Wenshi from Xuzhou Medical University; and Professor Li Can from the National Institutes of Health, USA. They shared their latest groundbreaking research findings and unique insights on hot topics in immunity and metabolism, sparking lively discussions among the participants.
The conference also featured special sessions such as abstract submissions and scientific poster presentations, providing young scholars, especially graduate students, with a valuable platform to showcase their talents and exchange ideas. Participating students presented innovative research work in various areas, including gut microbiome, neuroimmunity, and tumor metabolism, demonstrating solid research capabilities and dynamic academic thinking.
At the closing ceremony, Professor Wang Wenshi, Director of the Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Immunity and Metabolism, emphasized that this conference was not only an academic feast but also a catalyst for promoting collaboration and advancing the discipline. He highlighted that the interdisciplinary integration of immunity and metabolism represents a critical direction for future biomedical research, and the close connection between basic research and clinical applications will accelerate the understanding of major disease mechanisms and the development of new strategies. The conference served as an efficient bridge for in-depth interdisciplinary and cross-institutional cooperation. He expressed the hope that this conference would serve as an opportunity to collectively propel China’s research in immunometabolism to new heights.
