On the afternoon of June 25, the 2025 Graduate Commencement Ceremony of the School of Basic Medical Sciences was successfully held in the Academic Lecture Hall. Nearly a hundred participants attended the ceremony, including Professor Zheng Kuiyang, former President of Xuzhou Medical University; members of the School of Basic Medical Sciences leadership team; representatives of graduate supervisors; graduates of the class of 2025; and representatives of students’ parents. The ceremony was presided over by Han Hongliu, Party Secretary of the School.
At the ceremony, Professor Tang Renxian, Dean of the college, extended her congratulations to 59 master's and doctoral graduates and shared her earnest expectations. She expressed her hope that all graduates would establish integrity as their foundation and remain steadfast in their original aspirations; delve deeply into the fertile field of medicine and courageously scale new heights of innovation; cherish both physical and mental well-being, and embrace the beauty found in everyday life.
Vice Dean Professor Wang Wenshi read out the commendation documents. Professor Zheng Kuiyang, former Head of the University’s United Front Work Department Hong Rong, Vice Dean Professor Song Yuanjian, and representatives of supervisors presented awards to the honorees.
During the gratitude ceremony, all graduates bowed three times to express their appreciation—first to their parents for their unwavering support, then to their supervisors for their dedicated guidance throughout their academic journey, and finally to their alma mater for providing direction and illuminating the path ahead for every student.
Professor Liu Wei, speaking on behalf of all supervisors, encouraged the graduates to maintain a commitment to lifelong learning, to stay aligned with the times with reverence, humility, and diligence, and to continue fostering the spirit of scientific exploration. Doctoral graduate Yuan Dongchen, representing all graduates, shared her research accomplishments over her seven years of master’s and doctoral studies, expressed gratitude to the university, the school, her teachers, and her peers, and pledged to uphold the university motto of "Cultivating Virtue in Medicine, Pursuing Knowledge with Innovation," striving to exemplify the spirit of "Xuzhou Medical University" in her future endeavors.
During the gift-giving segment, representatives of supervisors presented commemorative graduation gifts to graduate representatives. Current student representative Liao Longxiang, a graduate student from the class of 2023, performed the song "Sunny Day," offering blessings to all graduates and wishing them courage as they move forward.
Finally, all graduate Party members concluded the ceremony by singing "My Future Is Not a Dream." May the graduates of the class of 2025 embark on bright futures, uphold the school motto of “Pursue Truth through Reflection, Embrace Virtue in Quest for Knowledge”, bravely scale new heights in life, and contribute to the nation's health endeavors.
