From August 14 to 18, the final of the 12th National College Students Medical Innovation Competition and the "Belt and Road" International Competition, organized by the Committee of Medical Innovation Competitions for College Students in Higher Education and hosted by Fudan University, concluded successfully in Shanghai. The competition attracted more than 4,500 faculty members and students from nearly 200 universities at home and abroad.
The National College Students Medical Innovation Competition and the "Belt and Road" International Competition is a national-level competition in the category of medical innovation listed in the competition directory of the Chinese Association of Higher Education. It is also the largest-scale and most influential national discipline competition in basic medical research in China. This year's event featured six discipline tracks — Basic Clinical Medicine, Forensic Medicine, Stomatology, Preventive Medicine, Pharmacy and Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Interdisciplinary Sciences — as well as an international competition, covering students at both undergraduate and junior college levels and connecting young scholars at home and abroad. Following earlier on-campus selection and preliminary rounds, a total of 8 projects from our university advanced to the final, ultimately winning 1 gold award, 4 silver awards, and 3 bronze awards. Our university has also received the Excellent Organization Award for six consecutive editions of the competition.
As the organizing unit of this event at our university, the School of Basic Medicine and Life Sciences will build on the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of Basic Medicine, adhere to the principle of "promoting learning, teaching, and innovation through competition," continue to deepen the development of New Medicine (Xin Yike), advance the deep integration of science and education, and strengthen the cultivation of innovative talent. At the same time, we will comprehensively review and distill the experience of previous editions of the competition, improve event organization and project cultivation, and strive to train a large number of high-caliber, outstanding medical professionals, thereby empowering and enhancing the development of our university into a high-level medical university.
