“Promote evaluation through competition”—the School successfully held the first undergraduate experimental skills competition

From June 12th to 13th, the first undergraduate experimental skills competition of the School of Life Sciences kicked off. The competition aims to "solidify the experimental foundation and stimulate innovative thinking" and attracts many students from the School to participate.

At the opening ceremony, Gao Can, Dean of the School of Life Sciences, pointed out that experimental skills are the core element of life science talent training and the key to talent training in the School. This competition is a concentrated test of the undergraduate experimental teaching results of the School. Vice Dean Liu Yichang encourages students to explore experiments with a rigorous attitude and innovative spirit. The opening ceremony of the competition was hosted by Chen Renjin, director of the Biology Teaching Comprehensive Laboratory.



The competition is divided into two groups: lower grade and senior grade. Excellent teachers from the School serve as judges of the competition, and comprehensively judge from multiple dimensions such as the standardization of experimental operations, accuracy of data, and innovation of experiments. After two rounds of competition, three students, Wu Chen, Gu Xuyan, and Han Jian, won the first prize, three students, including Sun Haimeng, Huang Rong, and Zhao Jiachen, won the second prize, and six students, including Liu Xuyang, Li Peilin, Gui Mingyuan, Zhou Xuan, Chen Sitong, and Li Shasha, won the third prize.


On the afternoon of June 13, Zheng Peng, deputy secretary of the School of Life Sciences, fully affirmed the outstanding performance of the participating students at the award ceremony and encouraged the contestants to use competitions to promote learning, improve practical abilities, and lay a solid foundation for development. At the same time, the competition site looped through the exciting moments of the contestants, and the award-winning student representatives shared their experiences in the competition, passing on their experience of combining practice and theory to more students.
