In order to actively respond to the call of the school’s “Four New” construction and deeply explore new paths for professional construction and talent innovation training, on December 30, the School of Life Sciences held a micro-major application and reporting meeting in the 822 conference room of the main teaching building. The meeting was attended by the leaders of the School, heads of various offices, and two teachers, Yao Ruiqin and Zhu Zuobin, who are interested in applying to open micro majors.
At the beginning of the meeting, two teachers, Yao Ruiqin and Zhu Zuobin, the heads of majors who were interested in applying for micro majors, gave detailed and in-depth reports one after another. Starting from the reason for the naming of the micro major, they elaborated on the background of its establishment in depth, pointing out the close connection between the current subject development trends and social needs. They also elaborated and reported on the training objectives, curriculum system, faculty, existing platforms, teaching and research characteristics and advantages, and expected results.
After the report, based on the goal of establishing micro majors and closely integrating the characteristics and advantages of the School, the School leaders put forward constructive suggestions for modifications to the two micro majors to be applied for. At the same time, they emphasized that the application of micro majors must always adhere to the fundamental task of cultivating moral character and cultivating people, be student-centered, strictly follow the laws of higher education teaching and talent growth, take improving students' ability to solve practical problems as the core goal, and strive to cultivate innovative talents with interdisciplinary thinking and excellent practical abilities.
From now on, the School will take the construction of micro-majors as an important opportunity to further deepen the reform of education and teaching, and continue to explore new paths for cultivating innovative talents. We hope that through unremitting efforts, we will help students move forward steadily on their future academic research and career development paths, and provide a steady stream of outstanding talents to the biomedical industry.
