The School of Life Sciences held an expert demonstration meeting on the revision of the 2024 undergraduate talent training program

In order to strengthen undergraduate teaching reform and professional connotation construction, optimize talent training models, and improve the quality of talent training in biological sciences majors, on the morning of April 24, the School of Life Sciences held an expert discussion meeting on the revision of the 2024 undergraduate talent training program for biological sciences.

The conference specially invited Professor Tian Jun, Dean of the School of Biology and Materials Engineering of Suqian University, Professor Wang Minghua of the School of Basic Medicine and Biological Sciences of Soochow University, Xu Qinghua, Chairman and General Manager of Hangzhou Kebang Gene Technology Co., Ltd., Wang Feng, Director and Deputy General Manager of Wuxi Baiaode Bioscience Co., Ltd., and Industry Professor of Jiangsu Province, and Jia Xiaojing, professor-level engineer of North China Pharmaceutical Group Huasheng Co., Ltd. and school industry professor, to provide guidance on the revision of the 2024 version of the undergraduate talent training program of the School of Life Sciences. The demonstration meeting was chaired by Li Chong, Secretary of the Party Branch of the School. Vice Dean Liu Yi, heads of majors and the Teaching and Research Office attended the meeting.

Secretary Li Chong expressed his gratitude to the participating experts for their guidance and hoped that the participating experts would actively provide valuable opinions and suggestions on the School's 2024 version of the talent training plan. Vice Dean Liu Yi reported in detail to the experts the training objectives, revised work ideas, curriculum and other revisions of the School's 2024 version of the professional talent training plan. The leader of the expert group, Professor Tian Jun, organized experts to conduct an in-depth analysis of the talent training programs for each major, and affirmed the School’s training philosophy of cultivating biomedical industry talents with medical education characteristics and social needs. At the same time, combined with the "National Standards for the Quality of Teaching for Undergraduate Majors in General Universities" and rich corporate industry experience, he proposed many forward-looking and guiding opinions and suggestions, such as adding cutting-edge interprofessional and interdisciplinary expansion courses, integrating and optimizing courses, and increasing industry-education integration teaching content.

This demonstration meeting will play a positive role in promoting the School to further optimize the professional talent training plan, promote teaching reform and professional connotation construction, and improve the quality of talent training. After the meeting, each major will further sort out the problems and deficiencies in the revision of the talent training plan, and combine the guidance provided by the expert group to formulate a talent training plan for biological sciences professionals that is more in line with life-oriented and social needs, and follows the laws of education and teaching and the laws of talent growth.
