On the afternoon of June 9, a teaching salon on integrating ideological and political education into courses was held in Conference Room 822 of the Main Teaching Building. The event was hosted by the Center for Faculty and Teaching Development and organized by the School of Life Sciences. Yang Haitao from the School of Marxism was invited as the expert adviser. Vice Dean Liu Yi, Pan Chen, Director of the Center for Faculty and Teaching Development, and all faculty members of the school attended. Yang Xi, Deputy Director of the School's Teaching and Research Office, moderated the event.

During the salon, Zhang Qiang, Wu Xiuxiang, and Liu Yingkui shared their approaches to integrating ideological and political education into the courses Genetics and Evolution, Cell Engineering, and English for Biology. Zhang Qiang explained the background, meaning, and implementation of this approach and invited participants to consider what it entails and how it should be carried out. He emphasized that teachers play a key role and should fulfill their responsibilities so that values education is embedded naturally in their courses. Drawing on the characteristics of Cell Engineering and the needs of its students, Wu Xiuxiang developed a repository of relevant educational elements, incorporated them into classroom teaching in a targeted manner, and connected the course with current issues and scientific frontiers. Liu Yingkui cited the Taoist ideas that 'one gives rise to two, two to three, and three to all things' and that humanity should live in harmony with nature. He linked these ideas to concepts in English for Biology and developed them step by step to encourage students to reflect.

Teacher Yang Haitao from the School of Marxism fully affirmed and spoke highly of the experience sharing of the three teachers in the school and gave careful guidance. Teacher Yang Haitao said that the ideological and political curriculum of professional courses is implicit. It is necessary to "moisten things silently" and integrate the core socialist values throughout the entire process of education. It is necessary to actively explore the implementation path of ideological and political courses, think about ideological and political elements and materials, and integrate them into professional courses to make professional courses more rigorous and professional.

Finally, Vice Dean Liu Yi of the School of Life Sciences made a concluding speech on this teaching salon. Dean Liu first expressed his gratitude to Teacher Yang Haitao for his careful guidance and the careful arrangements of the school's teaching and development center. He also emphasized that we should think deeply about how to deeply explore various ideological and political curriculum resources and realize their organic integration with professional courses. In the ideological and political curriculum, we must aim at cultivating people with moral character and be good at combining it with professional knowledge to improve the quality of ideological and political education and teaching. Regarding the construction and thinking of "curriculum ideological and political education", we are still on the road and have a long way to go.
