On August 28, the School of Life Sciences organized the mid-term assessment of the 2023 graduate students and the review of the 2024 graduate students' proposals as scheduled. For this assessment, professors Li An'an, Xiao Cheng, Zeng Lingyu, Liu Yi, Song Yuan, Yao Ruiqin, Zhang Baole and other professors as well as tutors from various disciplines were invited to form an expert group to guide and review the academic progress and project design of graduate students.
Mid-term Assessment: Promoting the Quality of Graduate Education
For the 2023 graduate students, the expert group focused on core indicators such as course learning, scientific research progress, and data analysis capabilities by listening to reports, reviewing experimental records, and on-site defense. The assessment adopts a 100-point scoring system. The review experts emphasized: "The mid-term assessment is an important step in the quality of training, and it is necessary to ensure the scientificity of the research design and the rigor of the experimental data."
Proposal Review: Ensuring Quality at the Entry Stage of Graduate Education
The review of the topic proposals for the 2024 graduate students was carried out simultaneously, and the expert group conducted reviews around the innovativeness of the topic selection, the feasibility of the technical route, and the depth of the literature review. Graduate students are required to present their research plan in the form of a report. The review expert group pointed out: "The proposal report must reflect academic cutting-edge and practical application value, and avoid vague topic selection."
Closed-Loop Training: Process Management and Quality Assurance in Graduate Education
During the mid-term assessment and thesis proposal of graduate students, the dual process of "system review and paper archiving" will be strictly implemented. All assessment results will be simultaneously entered into the graduate education management system as an important basis for advancing thesis. Through expert supervision and standardized processes, we are committed to building a full-chain quality monitoring system from proposal to defense.
