On April 15, Cao Junli, Vice President of Xuzhou Medical University, and Zhang Qing, Dean of the Graduate School, led a team to the School of Life Sciences to conduct a special survey around the theme of "Discipline Development and Postgraduate Training". Dean Gao Can of the School of Life Sciences, Party Branch Secretary Li Chong, Vice Dean Liu Yi and representatives of subject leaders attended the meeting.
At the research meeting, Dean Gao Can first reported on the progress of the School's discipline development and the optimization of its curriculum system. She explained that, in recent years, the School of Life Sciences has drawn on the University's strengths in medicine to promote interdisciplinary integration among life sciences, basic medicine, and clinical medicine and to refine its disciplinary directions. In curriculum development, the School has emphasized cutting-edge knowledge and practical training, introduced interdisciplinary courses, and strengthened graduate students' capacity for research and innovation. Li Chong, Secretary of the School's Party Branch, then introduced the daily management of graduate students. He noted that the School had established a management system covering the entire graduate education process and would further strengthen coordination between ideological and political education and academic training to provide comprehensive support for cultivating high-level talent.
Zhang Qing, Dean of the Graduate School, recognized the School of Life Sciences' efforts to reform its curriculum system. He noted that academic-degree graduate programs should strengthen training in scientific thinking and original innovation while improving students' ability to apply knowledge in practice.
During the exchange session, participating teachers spoke enthusiastically and conducted in-depth discussions focusing on core issues such as discipline development planning, postgraduate training model optimization, and curriculum system innovation. The participating leaders provided detailed responses and policy interpretations to the questions and suggestions raised one by one.
In his concluding speech, Vice President Cao Junli spoke highly of the discipline construction achievements of the School of Life Sciences and put forward two requirements. The first is to clearly define the positioning and serve the national strategy. To meet the development needs of the biomedical industry, focus on the frontiers of science, and condense the discipline direction with international competitiveness. The second is to promote both introduction and education to strengthen the teaching staff. Increase the introduction of high-level talents, improve the growth support mechanism for young teachers, and strengthen the teaching staff.
School of Life Sciences will take this survey as an opportunity to fully implement the school's deployment, continue to optimize the subject layout, improve the training plan, and inject new momentum into school construction and high-quality development.
