To further strengthen scientific research cooperation and enhance the scientific research and innovation capabilities of teachers and students in our university, on July 26th, Professor WANG Qing from Huazhong University of Science and Technology was invited to our university to deliver an academic report. More than 80 people, including HAN Hongliu, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Basic Medical Sciences, young teachers, and postgraduate students, participated in the event. The report was presided over by SONG Yuanjian, Vice Dean of the School of Basic Medical Sciences.
Taking "Precision Diagnosis and Treatment of Cardiovascular and Nervous System Diseases and Translational Medicine" as the theme, Professor WANG Qing explained to the teachers and students the core content of genetics and precision medicine. He elaborately introduced the discovery of genetics and disease-related genes as well as precision diagnosis and illustrated the application prospects of gene therapy through various cases. He also presented to faculty and students the discovery process of the rare genetic disorder "Liang-Wang Syndrome," named after his surname, and shared his experiences and insights in identifying its pathogenic genes.
Following the presentation, Professor WANG Qing engaged in an in-depth discussion with faculty and students, providing detailed responses to their questions. This academic exchange enhanced participants' understanding of emerging trends and developments in the field, broadened their academic perspectives, and fostered interdisciplinary collaboration and scientific innovation.
