Pengcheng International Conference on Medical Genetics 2025 Held at Our University

     The 5th Pengcheng International Academic Conference on Medical Genetics, together with the Supervisor Training Workshop for Postgraduate Students of the School of Life Science, Xuzhou Medical University, was successfully held in Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province from September 12 to 13, 2025. Co-hosted by Xuzhou Medical University, the Cytogenetics Branch of the Genetics Society of China and the Jiangsu Genetics Society, the event was jointly undertaken by the School of Life Science of Xuzhou Medical University, Jiangsu Engineering Research Center for Precision Diagnosis and Treatment of Polygenic Severe Diseases, Key Laboratory of Genetic Basis and Clinical Application of Xuzhou Medical University, and the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange (Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office) of Xuzhou Medical University. Wang Feng, Member of the Standing Committee of the University Party Committee and Secretary of the Commission for Discipline Inspection of our university, and Professor Li Wei, Chair of the Cytogenetics Branch of the Genetics Society of China, attended the conference and delivered addresses.

The conference comprised an Expert Forum and a Young Scholar Forum. Distinguished experts and scholars from home and abroad were invited to the Expert Forum, including Professor Hae Woong Choi from Korea University, Professor Sun Qingyuan, Chief Scientist of the Second Guangdong Provincial People’s Hospital Affiliated to Jinan University, Professor Li Wei from Guangzhou Women and Children’s Medical Center, Professor Kyeung Min Joo from Sungkyunkwan University, Professor Guo Xuejiang from the State Key Laboratory of Reproductive Medicine and Offspring Health, Nanjing Medical University, and Professor Yonghyun Jun from Chosun University. Focusing on cutting-edge research areas such as urinary tract microbiota, oocyte aging, stem cell gene therapy and male infertility, the participating experts shared their latest research findings and academic perspectives. In addition, Professor Kai Guoyin, Deputy Director of the Research Department of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University, delivered a special presentation on experience in applying for national research projects and strategies for cultivating award-winning achievements.


    The Young Scholar Forum featured presentations and academic exchanges by 11 doctoral and master’s students from Chosun University, Sungkyunkwan University and our university, who reported their respective research achievements in the field of genetics.

    The successful convening of the conference not only enabled in-depth discussions on research hotspots in the field of medical genetics and enhanced the academic influence of the university, the school and related disciplines, but also built a sound academic exchange platform for scholars at home and abroad, playing a positive and far-reaching role in promoting the discipline construction of the school.
