Golden autumn brings refreshing breeze and osmanthus fragrance. On the afternoon of September 5, the School of Life Sciences held orientation education activities for postgraduate freshmen of the Class of 2025 in Meeting Room 822 of the Main Campus Main Building. Attendees included Dean Gao Can, Deputy General Party Branch Secretary Zheng Peng, Chen Renjin, Director of the Medical Laboratory Animal Science Teaching and Research Section, Zhang Baole, Deputy Director of the Cell Biology and Neurobiology Teaching and Research Section, Zhu Zuobin, Deputy Director of the Genetics Teaching and Research Section, Liu Yingkui, Young Doctor of the Biotechnology Teaching and Research Section, Wu Xiuxiang, Director of the Teaching & Research Office, Xu Yue, Director of the Student Affairs Office, and Hong Xiaoran, Postgraduate Counselor. The activity aimed to help postgraduate freshmen quickly adapt to study and life in the new stage, clarify academic directions, and strengthen their sense of belonging and responsibility.
At the opening of the activity, postgraduate freshmen of the Class of 2025 took turns introducing themselves, showing vigorous and positive mental outlook. Afterwards, faculty from each teaching and research section systematically delivered professional education covering zoology, cell biology and neurobiology, genetics and pharmaceutical biotechnology, helping students further clarify disciplinary characteristics and development prospects. Wang Tao, a master’s freshman majoring in Genetics, delivered a speech as the freshman representative, expressing expectations and determination for future scientific research life. Professor Gao Can, Dean of the School of Life Sciences, extended a warm welcome to all freshmen in his address, encouraging them to cherish their time, conduct rigorous academic research, dare to innovate, and strive to become outstanding talents with social responsibility and scientific research capabilities. All freshmen solemnly signed the Academic Integrity Commitment Letter, expressing their firm resolve to abide by academic ethics and uphold the bottom line of scientific research. Finally, Counselor Hong Xiaoran delivered a special lecture on campus safety and risk prevention, enhancing freshmen’s safety awareness and self-protection capabilities.
This orientation education provided a multi-disciplinary exchange platform for freshmen and laid a solid foundation for them to smoothly launch their scientific research careers.
