To fully improve the effectiveness of education through financial aid and deliver thoughtful care and support for students from financially disadvantaged families, the School of Life Sciences launched the summer home visit campaign themed "Heartwarming Targeted Home Visits, Student Financial Aid Fosters Growth" from July to August 2025. The school brought national and university financial aid policies straight to families and delivered the school’s sincere care to every student.
Prior to the visits, the School of Life Sciences formulated a detailed implementation plan to ensure standardized procedures and effective outreach. On July 17, August 11 and August 26, Zheng Peng, Deputy Secretary of the General Party Branch, together with counselors Xu Yue, Hong Xiaoran and Yuan Ding, conducted field visits to families of disadvantaged students in Tongshan District and Suining County of Xuzhou City, as well as Sucheng District of Suqian City.
During the visits, teachers sat down for heartfelt conversations with parents and students to learn about each student’s family background, upbringing environment, sources of household income and practical difficulties. They explained a full range of financial aid policies including national student loans, merit scholarships, need-based grants and work-study programs to students and their families. Teachers also shared students’ outstanding performance and aid records at school with parents, encouraging students to stay confident and study diligently. They advised students to turn temporary hardships into motivation for progress, and repay their families, the university and society with outstanding achievements in the future.
Beyond on-site visits, the school also conducted virtual home visits via phone calls and WeChat to comprehensively identify students with financial difficulties, achieving full coverage of policy publicity and all-round care delivery with a 100% home visit completion rate.
Home visits serve as a vital bridge connecting home and school for collaborative education, and an important measure to deepen the warmth and depth of ideological and political education. The School of Life Sciences will continue to advance financial aid education, expand the scope and depth of home visits, unite the joint efforts of families and the school, and support every student to thrive and achieve their potential.
