To upgrade the quality of student financial aid work, widely publicize national and university financial aid policies, gain in-depth understanding of students from disadvantaged families and improve the effectiveness of developmental financial aid education, the School of Life Sciences launched the summer home visit campaign themed "Boost Home-School Communication, Convey Warmth of the School of Life Sciences" in July and August 2024.

Prior to visits, the school made elaborate arrangements and formulated detailed plans and workflows to guarantee standardized and effective outreach. On July 12 and 13, Zheng Peng, Deputy Secretary of the General Party Branch, together with counselors Xu Yue and Hong Xiaoran, conducted on-site home visits in Dashahu Town, Feng County, Xuzhou City and Nanyang Town, Tinghu District, Yancheng City. During visits, teachers learned about each student’s family background, living environment, financial status and academic performance, and thoroughly explained all national, university and social financial aid policies to students and their parents. Teachers also shared students’ awards and aid records at school, encouraging them to value state support, strive for academic excellence, regard temporary financial hardship as valuable life experience, and repay families, the university and society with outstanding grades.

Throughout the summer vacation, counselors also carried out online visits via phone calls and WeChat to all 48 financially disadvantaged students in the school. They collected full information on household difficulties, achieving 100% coverage of home visits and full policy outreach without omissions.

University home visits serve as a vital bond connecting schools and families, a bridge to strengthen teacher-student relations, a channel to win students’ recognition, and an effective method to elevate both school and family education. Moving forward, the School of Life Sciences will keep focusing on key groups of disadvantaged students, conduct more comprehensive targeted home surveys, and pass on warmth and hope through developmental financial aid education.
