In November 2023, the School of Life Sciences, Xuzhou Medical University, successfully hosted the academic exchange event titled Window for Future Scholars: Postgraduate Academic Achievement Conference. Designed to support and incentivize postgraduates to showcase research outcomes, the activity provided professional academic guidance and built an interactive exchange platform for young researchers.
The conference featured two presentation formats: oral reports and poster displays, allowing participants to share cutting-edge research and exchange ideas with expert judges and audience members. Oral presentations polished students’ public speaking capabilities; in-depth discussions with judges validated their academic competence, refined their research logic and elevated overall research literacy. Judges scored each talk and awarded Outstanding Oral Presentation prizes. For poster sessions, students created visually appealing, content-rich boards summarizing experimental findings, with outstanding entries granted first, second and third-class awards.
Participants made remarkable progress in public speaking, visual design and academic expertise through the event. The conference broadly improved postgraduates’ research communication skills and laboratory efficiency, offering valuable feedback to boost comprehensive abilities. It also strengthened cross-group ties, facilitated interdisciplinary dialogue on frontier life science challenges, promoted open academic sharing and laid a solid foundation for subsequent research projects.
This event effectively eased communication barriers between postgraduates, supervisors and different research teams and enriched the school’s academic atmosphere. Moving forward, the School of Life Sciences will offer more academic growth opportunities for postgraduates through similar exchange events, drive innovation in life science research and contribute greater progress to academia.
